Committee Roles

How Committees Work

NEACOL is run almost entirely by volunteers organized into committees, each responsible for a key area of the organization. Committee members meet regularly, set goals, and carry out the work of their area. Any volunteer can join one or more committees based on their skills and interests.

📣 Marketing Committee

Chair: Xiomara Chica
  • Manages all social media channels including Facebook, Twitter/X, Instagram, and YouTube.
  • Creates and distributes NEACOL's newsletter, event promotions, and press releases.
  • Develops branding materials, graphics, and visual content for campaigns.
  • Coordinates with other committees to ensure consistent messaging.
  • Builds awareness of NEACOL within the Colombian-American community and beyond.

🎉 Events Committee

Chair: Mauricio Barrero
  • Plans and executes NEACOL's Annual Gala and all other fundraising events.
  • Manages venue selection, catering, entertainment, and event logistics.
  • Coordinates volunteer staffing for events.
  • Works with the Fundraising and Marketing committees to maximize event revenue and attendance.
  • Organizes community mixers, outreach events, and member appreciation gatherings.

💰 Fundraising Committee

Chair: Sandy Madero
  • Develops and implements NEACOL's annual fundraising strategy.
  • Cultivates relationships with individual donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
  • Manages grant applications to external funders.
  • Coordinates online fundraising campaigns and peer-to-peer fundraising.
  • Works with the Treasurer to set fundraising targets and track progress.

📊 Projects Committee

  • Manages the annual grant cycle from call for proposals through final selection.
  • Reviews and evaluates grant applications against NEACOL's criteria.
  • Conducts due diligence on applying organizations.
  • Monitors active grants and maintains relationships with funded organizations.
  • Prepares impact reports for the Board and for NEACOL's public communications.
